Introducing ASERIS-BE Solver

ASERIS Various applications

History

ASERIS-BE is a major software component of the Airbus ASERIS™ Software Suite dedicated to the simulation of electromagnetic phenomena involved in industrial applications.

It originated from Aerospatiale Les Mureaux in the 80’s and was initially developed for defense and aerospace applications. In the 90’s, its development was continued and extended to civil applications by the group’s central research center and distributed to all the group’s Business Units.

At the same time, IMACS originated from CMAP the Centre of Applied Mathematics of École Polytechnique a pioneer in the study of Boundary Element Methods. As an R&D and technology provider, IMACS has developed cutting edge numerical method and world-class software in Electromagnetism and Acoustics.

Since the early 2000, IMACS started a regular collaboration with Airbus (EADS at that time) that quickly evolved into a partnership aimed at co-developing ASERIS to meet the aerospace industry’s highly demanding needs.

Over sevaral decades, ASERIS benefited from continuous and extensive R&D initiatives, involving numerous collaborative projects with diverse academic and industrial partners, as well as PhD theses. This has resulted in a wealth of accumulated expertise over time. This development has been at the forefront of revolutions in the field of numerical simulation: parallel computing in the 1990s, FMM methods in the 2000s, H-matrices in the 2010s, and currently, coupling and domain decomposition methods are at the core of the R&D team’s work.

ASERIS™ has been adopted by leading Aeronautic and Defense industrials (Airbus Operations, Airbus Helicopters, Airbus Defence and Space, ArianeGroup, MBDA…) where it is being used for a wide variety of industrial applications such as antenna placement, antenna coupling, Electromagnetic Compatibility applications, Lightning Indirect Effects (LIE) and High-Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF), Radar Cross Section (RCS)… It represents an essential component within their product cycle, encompassing design, certification, and maintenance. IMACS provides support and maintenance for ASERIS within all Airbus Entities.

In November 2023, IMACS and BETA CAE Systems signed a strategic distribution partnership for the worldwide distribution of ASERIS-BE solver by BETA. With the high-quality of interaction between ASERIS-BE and the software suite of BETA, the combined software solution is a high-value offer to the market and reaches a broader spectrum of industrial sectors in more geographic regions through the business and support channel of BETA CAE Systems.
